The Finnish-born, Congolese, UK-raised hip-hop artist. Yanz, also known as King Yanz started making music years ago following his brother, Marteysowavey’s footsteps. Musical influences include rap legends such as 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Pop Smoke, and AJ-Tracey.

Yanz’s dynamic range and unique way of combining, old-school rap, UK drill, and grime with conscious hip-hop is thought-provoking. The lyrics leave a lasting impression and personal storytelling is where he truly excels. Shying away from the stereotypical drill culture and rap lyrics, Yanz has managed to keep the sound authentic while staying true to his individual style.

Apart from being an independent artist, he has also written and co-produced upbeat drill features, like Jugg ‘n’ Finesse”, that was released through GRM Daily’s YouTube channel and “Militant Bop” with French artist Romeo William.

His debut mixtape King Frozo was released in 2018 which caught the attention of the UK rap scene and led Yanz to perform as a supporting act to Krept n Konan, Mostack, and Fredo. His first official LP was released in May 2020, Homemade, Vol. 2, and is best known for the melodic-rap vocal style and personal music videos.

Yanz has performed and headlined in UK, France and toured in Finland multiple times. The new upcoming album (release date TBD), embodies several international influences, such as old-school hip-hop and jazz, Dutch trap, and Cuban sounds. It has been in the workings amid the pandemic in a fantastic collaboration with producers and recording studios across borders. The storyline of the album highlights Yanz’s personal growth and artistic development, taking on various musical styles with his ambitious and playful approach.

Yanz is redefining the music industry, showing that dreams can be made in many ways - owning his record label helping young artists like himself produce meaningful music and keep touching hearts with good vibes.
